Professional ceramic coating installer in Grand rapids, MI

Ceramic coating is an advanced protective layer that chemically bonds with a vehicle’s paint. It enhances the surface by adding depth and gloss, while forming a resilient barrier against scratches, UV damage, and the damaging effects of contaminants, ensuring a long-lasting and vibrant appearance.

3 Signs A Ceramic Coating Is Right For You

Traditional car wax will protect your car for a moment, but a long term ceramic coating will protect your car’s paint for a years to come

1

Your cars paint has scratches, swirl marks, and defects.

Before any ceramic coating, we first start off with paint correction stages to cut and polish the paint and remove scratches and defects, and finally to create a perfect, glossy, and shiny paint job ready to be protected for multiple years with a ceramic coating.

2

You love your new car and don't know how to keep the paint in immaculate condition and hold its value.

You acquired your vehicle through your own efforts. By applying a ceramic coating and ensuring the paint stays in top-notch condition, you can significantly boost its resale and trade-in worth, making ceramic coating a valuable choice.

3

You love a clean, shiny, glossy paintjob but just can't keep your car that clean for long.

A ceramic coating provides exceptional protection, preventing dirt, bird droppings, bugs, tree sap, and tar from sticking to the paint. Water beads and washes away easily, keeping your paint looking as good as new.

What Is A Ceramic Coating?

To gain a better understanding of ceramic coatings, it’s helpful to first examine the most common paint-protection products available in the market. Wax is an organic substance that comes in different forms, ranging from traditional paste to quick-and-easy sprays. For decades, “waxing” a car has been synonymous with keeping it looking shiny and new.

Unfortunately, wax is not very durable and hence must be applied several times a year. Sealants, on the other hand, are synthetic and designed to last for several months. They are easy to apply, but generally do not offer the same deep shine that a quality wax provides.

However, both wax and sealants are outperformed by a ceramic coating. This silica-based liquid polymer is applied by hand and hardens to create a protective layer that can be effective for several years if properly maintained.

Our Ceramic Coating Process in 3 Easy Steps

To better understand ceramic coating prices, it’s important to understand what is required in order to apply a ceramic coating properly.

Step 1: Ceramic Coating Preparation

Before installing a ceramic coating, and before doing ANYTHING for that matter, we have to ensure that the paint is not only clean but completely stripped bare! This requires a little more than simple car washing. During the paint stripping and decontaminating phase we walk through 5 major ceramic coating preparation stages.

The pre-wash wash’ where we remove as much surface dirt from the vehicle as possible without touching the paint. After surface dirt removal, it’s time for us to wash the paint.

Next is the ‘iron decontamination phase.’ If you’re not from the detailing world, that phrase means nothing to you. Most people aren’t aware of the tiny contaminants that sit on your car’s paint that are not removed through the washing process. These microscopic contaminants are single-handedly responsible for long-term paint DAMAGE! We’ve got the chemicals to remove them

Nearing the end we move into ‘clay barring’ the paint. After you wash your car… run your hand across the paint. What do you feel? Likely not a smooth surface, but rather a surface that LOOKS CLEAN and yet is bumpy like sandpaper. The clay bar phase of our ceramic coating preparation process allows us to remove any and all of the final contaminants that are embedded in the paint leaving a smooth and glassy surface behind

Last but not least we move into the ‘final wipe down & solvent removal’ stage. This phase is exactly what it sounds like. We use a specific type of chemical that will remove any last-minute oils, residues, waxes, or any other chemical that is left on the surface of the paint.

Step 2: Paint Correction

Now that the car paint has been completely cleaned and stripped in preparation for the ceramic coating application, it’s time to level out the clear coat and remove some scratches! Because ceramic coatings are the most durable form of long-term paint protection that exists in the detailing world, any little imperfection that is in the paint is there to stay as soon as the coating is applied. Here in Sebastian, Vero Beach, and Melbourne… we get rain, pollen, bugs, and pretty much anything else you can think of that would damage car paint! For that reason, it’s necessary for us to go through a paint correction stage prior to the ceramic coating application in order to remove paint imperfections and create a smooth surface with which the ceramic coating can bond.

There are 2 major types of paint correction: Paint Enhancement & Paint Correction

What is Paint Enhancement

Paint enhancement is a less extreme form of paint correction. When we perform paint enhancement, we are telling the customer what paint imperfections WILL be fixed, and what imperfections WILL NOT be fixed. Paint enhancement is the most common type of correction we do! Why is that? Well, most customers don’t care about the tiny imperfections that they really can’t see anyway, and they are really concerned most with getting that ceramic coating on

What is Paint Correction

Paint correction is nothing more than more aggressive paint enhancement. Can you see the pattern here? When we are dealing with a vehicle whose paint is REALLY DAMAGED or a customer who has a detailed eye, we will perform paint correction in order to remove the maximum amount of scratches, swirls, etchings, and paint imperfections as possible. Once again, this is necessary not only for visual appeal but to create a smooth surface with which the ceramic coating can bond to the paint

Step 3: Ceramic Coating Application

After all of that work… It’s now time to install the ceramic coating. You know how a surgeon goes to school for 8-12 years before they ever cut into an actual person? Most of the work is in the PREP! That is a great way to understand ceramic coatings.

While there is a lot of technical skill included in the ceramic coating application… most of the time and labor is done in the preparation! Ceramic coating installations take anywhere from 1 to 3 hours depending on the size of the vehicle, but the preparation takes ALL of the other hours. Depending on the amount of paint correction done, a ceramic coating installation can take somewhere between a single day, and 2 to 3 days to finish.

We hope this sheds a little more light on why ceramic coatings come with this price tag… in addition to having a lifetime protection on your vehicle!

Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently asked questions about ceramic coatings

How does a ceramic coating protect my vehicle's paint?

Ceramic coating safeguards your vehicle’s paint by forming a resilient, shell-like layer that bonds to the top coat. This protective barrier not only preserves the paint but also imparts a glossy, hydrophobic layer that effectively repels water, dirt, and debris, ensuring your car remains stunning and well-protected.

What does it mean when my vehicle will become "Hydrophobic"?

When a surface is described as “hydrophobic,” it typically refers to the state of a vehicle’s paint that exhibits exceptional water-repellent properties. When water comes into contact with such a surface, it forms beads that effortlessly slide off the vehicle, leaving little to no residual moisture. This characteristic is highly advantageous in preventing unsightly water spots.

Is a ceramic coating something I could install myself?

While the auto detailing industry certainly has a wide range of alternative paint protection solutions for you to work with, ceramic coatings like the ones I install here at Pro Exclusive Mobile Detailing should be handled by a professional. Based on the ease of which they can be incorrectly installed, it is risky for a consumer to apply themselves.

How long does ceramic coating last?

Ceramic coating can last several years, depending on the brand, care, and climatic circumstances. It can give long-lasting protection for your vehicle’s paint if adequately cared for.

Do I have to be there the day of the ceramic coating?

It is not necessary for you to be there the entire time. We just need access to your vehicle and a space large enough to get the job done.

Does ceramic coating eliminate the need for washing?

Regular washing is still required with ceramic coating. However, it makes cleaning easier and minimizes the possibility of pollutants attaching to the surface, reducing the frequency and effort necessary for maintenance.

Can I get only the ceramic coating with no paint correction?

It is crucial to perform a paint correction before applying a ceramic coating on a vehicle. This process involves one or multiple polishing steps to eliminate any swirls or webbing. The paint will be leveled to the depth of the scratch or swirl before the ceramic coating is applied.

Neglecting this step will magnify any defects in the paintwork tenfold by the ceramic coating. To ensure the best results, the vehicle’s paintwork must be thoroughly prepped before coating. Without proper preparation, the coating may bond to an unclean surface, leading to a shorter lifespan and a suboptimal outcome.

Should I only get a ceramic coating if I have a new car?

Ceramic coatings are for anyone who wants long-lasting protection installed on their car. If you want to experience an easier time maintaining and washing your vehicle, then a coating will give you that.

The only difference between a brand new car and a used car is the amount of prep work needed before the coating can go on.

What payment methods do you accept for mobile detailing services?

We accept various payment methods, including credit/debit cards, cashapp, venmo/paypal, and cash . Please inquire about specific payment options when booking your appointment.

Should I ceramic coat a new car?

Yes, it is recommended to have your car coated right after purchase. This can save you both time and money in the long run as you will require less paint correction or prep work.

Additionally, the ceramic coating provides extra protection to your car’s exterior and helps maintain its brand new appearance with minimal maintenance.

This is achieved by making your vehicle easier to clean and more resilient to environmental damage.

Auto detailing is our full time job and our passion. With our years of experience, we have encountered and tackled just about every situation in the detailing business.

We have the tools, knowledge and products to get your vehicle back to showroom condition. In a world of amateurs, pro exclusive detailing is your professional.

How is a ceramic coating supposed to be maintained?

We recommend maintenance washes every 2-3 weeks on a coated vehicle to keep it lasting as long as possible. Proper washing methods will help keep the finish scratch-free and hold that deep gloss shine. In addition, you will notice your car is much easier to wash and care for.

We recommend using shampoos and products that were made to pair with the coating we applied. Each manufacturer produces a product line that goes well with the coating to maintain and keep it lasting as long as possible.
